About this item
A favorite throughout the world, Louisa May Alcott's classic novel was first published in two parts, the first in 1868 and the second in 1869. Little Women volume 1 and 2 are presented here in full with 95 beautiful, original illustrations from the famous 1880 edition. Use Amazon's Look Inside feature to preview the book. You will impressed by the difference between this edition and others. This collection includes: 95 original illustrations by Frank T. Merrill from the 1880 edition Biographical information of the author and her parents
The novel follows the lives of four sister, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, and is based loosely on the family life of Louisa May. Jo March, the novel’s principal character, was modelled after the author herself. In fact, it was common for contemporary fans of the story to write admiring letters to Louisa May Alcott addressing her as “Jo” or “Miss March.” Mrs. March, the legendary mother character in Little Women, is one of the most beloved matriarchs in American literature. “Marmee,” as her four daughters affectionately call her, even has the same nickname as Louisa May Alcott’s real life mother.
This special edition of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is a wonderful introduction to the classic tale and makes the perfect gift for mothers and grandmothers on Mother's Day, mom's birthday, or any day you just want to show mom or grandma she's special.
