Amazon.com Fans of Orlando Bloom will get a chance to see the youthful leading man venture into darker territory in this intriguing crime thriller set in the exotic Cayman Islands. Though Bloom is top-billed in Haven (and shares a producing credit), his role--as a lovestruck Briton who falls in love with a local girl (Zoe Saldana), much to her family's consternation--is less of a lead than part of a larger ensemble cast, some of which is involved in another loosely connected storyline about a businessman (Bill Paxton) who has arrived on the islands to escape an FBI investigation. The players (which include Agnes Bruckner as Paxton's daughter, Bobby Cannavale, and Stephen Dillane) handle the neo-noirish material well, and director Frank E. Flowers makes excellent use of the exotic locations, though a connection between the stories could have been more clearly struck beyond thematic implications of the corruption of natural beauty.
