Amazing Grace (ALL) Amazon.com This PBS concert, featuring inspirational and modern songs performed by Ryland Angel, Giorgia Fumanti, and the sultry Americans Sasha and Shawna, is, in fact, heavenly listening. The disc features a live concert of the artists performing in Miami, and juxtaposes gorgeous scenery and New Age-y graphics to help transport the audience. The English tenor Angel tackles traditional fare like "The Water Is Wide," with layered string accompaniment (think early Enya) from the Tim Janis Ensemble. Italian soprano Fumanti takes a slightly more classical approach to her songs, including a goose-bump-inducing "Ave Maria." Sasha and Shawna are undeniably talented singers and drop-dead gorgeous as well, though they sometimes seem to forget they're performing inspirational music and not, say, starring in a Playboy Playmate contest. Still, the selection of the songs is rich and wide, including more specifically religious songs ("Espiritu") and modern pop that lends itself to higher aspirations (Sting's always-lovely "Fields of Gold"). Production values are topnotch and there's little filler and no down time in its 90 minutes, though a few nits can be picked in some of the song selections (Kansas's "Dust in the Wind" will always evoke '70s stoners--sorry, dudes). But overall, the musical experience is uplifting and energizing, culminating in a four-way presentation of that most glorious of American hymns, "Amazing Grace." How sweet the sound. --A.T. Hurley
