Broadcast 1960 through 1968, The Andy Griffith Show starred Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Ron Howard and Frances Bavier. The small town of Mayberry, North Carolina was home for this successful and funny sitcom. The stories centered around Sheriff Andy Taylor, a widower with a young son named Opie. Andy's deputy was his cousin barney Fife, the most inept and hypertense deputy in television history. Andy and Opie lived with Andy's Aunt Bee, a combination housekeeper and foster mother for Opie. With crime practically non-existent, Andy and Barney had plenty of time to become involved in the many funny situations of the citizens of Mayberry.
