About this item

Amazon.com An animated adventure series featuring super heroes, powerful monsters, and a fascination with far-out science, The Secret Saturdays is a captivating Cartoon Network series aimed at kids ages 7 and older. Far from your average family, Doc and Drew Saturday are a husband and wife scientist team with some very special powers who are dedicated to studying the mysteries of the universe and protecting the world's most legendary creatures and valuable artifacts. Their long-standing nemesis is the evil V. V. Argost. Recently, the Saturday's 11-year old son Zak has begun to develop his power to control special animals known as cryptids and has joined the family team along with Fiskerton, Zak's 7-foot gorilla cat brother, and Komodo, a disappearing Komodo dragon. The Secret Saturdays, Volume 1 begins with the two-part "The Kur Stone" in which Zak is learning to control his powers over the cryptids under the tutelage of his parents when Argost steals two of three pieces of the valuable Kur Stone--a stone which, when possessed in its entirety, endows the bearer with limitless power and the potential to control the world. Zak's parents hesitantly admit that Zak's powers may be crucial in saving the Kur stone, so the family heads off to the Amazon jungle to protect the final piece. A special weapon called the claw helps Zak gain focus and wield his powers more effectively and, in the heat of the battle, Zak learns an important lesson about balance while struggling to make an impossible choice. In "The Vengeance of Hibagon," brain transference technology has fallen in the hands of evil in Hiroshima, Japan and it's up to the Kur-stone-obsessed Doc and the rest of the Saturday family to save an important scientist and ensure the safety of the world. "The Ice Caverns of Ellef Ringnes" find the Saturday family in the frozen world of Anchor Island, New Zealand where treasure hunters have disturbed ancient burial mounds and unleashed the fury of fierce cryptid monsters. Can Zak set things right or will his irresponsible behavior only make things worse? "Guess Who's Going to be Dinner?" opens with Zak complaining that he's too old for a babysitter and his parents heading out to celebrate their anniversary. Zak manages to get rid of his unwanted, UFO-obsessed babysitter just as the Frankenstein-like monster Piecemeal shows up with an appetite for the rare gorilla-cat Fiskerton. Can Zak, Fiskerton, and Komodo defeat Piecemeal by themselves--even when the power is knocked out? Everyday family conflicts mix with action, intrigue, and monsters in each exciting episode of The Secret Saturdays. --Tami Horiuchi Product Description Cartoon Network: Secret Saturdays: Volume One The Saturdays have their hands full tracking cryptid beasts and the legendary Kur stone across the globe.
