About this item

Product Description Press Release/Bio Dan McClerren Dan McClerren is a gifted, self-taught, international keyboardist, guitarist, and composer. He has played folk-style guitar and composed music since the age of twelve. At the age of 30, inspired by George Winston, Dan began to intensively study piano on his own, with virtually no instruction. McClerren's third instrument is a rare, space-age-looking saxophone called a Digital Flute, or an EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), also known as a wind controller or wind synthesizer. The EWI can play five octaves and more than 500 different sounds, such as a pipe organ, bass guitar, drums, piano, flute, saxophone, violin, or cello. Dan's albums have gone into 21 countries. These include Canada, England, Germany, Belgium, Austria, The Netherlands, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Kuwait, the Virgin Islands, Nether Antilles, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Sweden, and West Malaysia. At present, Dan has six releases produced under his own Earth Angel Records label. These include Celtic Passion (2004), Celtic Tranquility (2001), Living from the Heart (1998), Angel of Joy (1996), Planetary Paradigm (1994), and Let There Be Light! (1993). All six albums are great for stress management, in that they are relaxing, but also uplifting and re-energizing. Celtic Tranquility and Living from the Heart and are the most peaceful. Both of Dan's newest releases - Celtic Passion and Celtic Tranquility are what many people term as Celtic Romantic instrumental music. While Celtic Passion is all originals, Celtic Tranquility features many traditional Celtic favorites, such as Maggie and Spancil Hill, along with many fabulous, peaceful originals. Additionally, the music on Celtic Tranquility was performed by artists from Canada, England, and the best Celtic musicians from all over the U.S. On Living from the Heart, Dan had the great privilege of recording his keyboard compositions for this CD on a 1924 nine-foot Steinway concert grand piano owned by the world-renown classical pianist, Vladimir Horowitz. Angel of Joy is somewhat more upbeat, but with many mellow pieces as well. Let There Be Light! Is a Renaissance-style of Christmas album, along the lines of Manheim Steamroller, yet a bit softer. McClerren's albums often remind listeners of Yanni, David Lanz, George Winston, Enya, Peter Kater, and Liz Story -- all keyboardists who have greatly influenced Dan's musical style. Dan's Producer, John Bergeron, has played the piano since the age of four. He has been a performer and producer for over 30 years. Several world-class musicians have contributed to Dan's albums. They include the following: s 1) Jose Rossy, Patti LaBelle's world touring percussionist; 2) Drummer Steve Ivey, a performer with E-Town & James Taylor; 3) Vocal Improvisationalists Robyn Fisher (Canon in D on Planetary Paradigm), who sang for the Pope in Rome in 1994, and Rebecca Folsom (Dusk to Dawn on Angel of Joy) has performed with Paul Winter and has done tours to New Zealand, Fiji, Tulum, Mexico, and Egypt, where she sang in the King's Chamber with a female trio. 4) Flutist Susanella Noble on Planetary Paradigm --she had her debut performance at Carnegie Hall, and who studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal; 5) Kerwin Brown, bassist, who has performed with Bruce Hornsby and Peter Kater; and 6) Guitarist, 'Smokin'' Joe Kelly, who has performed around the world with Ike and Tina Turner. Excerpts from Dan's albums are regularly played on various other radio stations in Denver, Colorado, and throughout the United States including The Discovery Channel. To date, McClerren's albums are carried exclusively wherever he performs live, or on our Website, at www.earthangelmusic.com.
