We're accustomed to Bonnie and Clyde scenarios, but Deadfall has a twist: what happens when Bonnie and Clyde are sister and brother? We meet Addison and Liza (Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde) speeding through a blizzard-in-the-making, having just pulled off a robbery and toting quite a bit of loose cash. Complications will separate these two and send them off on crazy trajectories that lead to the farmhouse of a very nice couple (Sissy Spacek and Kris Kristofferson) on a cozy Thanksgiving afternoon. The coziness will turn to blood, of course, as the violent Addison improvises his way through an extremely awkward domestic scene (Bana is exceptionally frisky as this boundary-trampling psychopath). It's a messy scenario, and includes an ex-con boxer (Charlie Hunnam) and an overmatched police officer (Kate Mara) in the mix. If director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) were interested in more than getting to the next supercharged action sequence, we might really have something here… but despite the spirited work of Bana and Wilde (their characters are well and truly freaky), Deadfall collapses into a series of snowy chases and shootouts. Siblings Addison (Eric Bana) and Liza (Olivia Wilde) are on the run from a casino heist gone wrong. When a car accident leaves their wheel man and a state trooper dead, they split up and make a run for the Canadian border in the worst of circumstances a near whiteout blizzard. While Addison heads cross-country, creating mayhem in his wake, Liza is picked up by ex-boxer Jay (Charlie Hunnam), en-route for a Thanksgiving homecoming with his parents, June (Sissy Spacek) and retired sheriff Chet (Kris Kristofferson). It's there the siblings are reunited in a terse and thrilling showdown that pushes the bonds of family to the limit.
