The first song, \"Cold Flame,\" is pretty typical, sounding both modern and traditional, a mix embodied by Elie Haroun's often Sting-like vocals. The most interesting tracks are the one that best embody Cirque's East-meets-West, everything-old-is-new-again ethos: \"Too High,\" with its propulsive dance beat and Middle Eastern accents; \"A Walk on Water\" with its French-language rap; \"La Nova Alegría,\" layering Brazilian-flavored guitars and a regular, pounding thump. Overall the more thoughtful songs, which often threaten to devolve into sap (\"Let Me Fall\"), don't work as well as the danciest ones (\"One Love\" is a real corker that sounds like it'd be a classic in European discothèques).
