This album weaves peaceful and evocative soundscapes of the ancient cultures and timeless landscapes of the American Southwest. August blends Native flutes, soft guitars, quiet pianos, lush textures and pulsing world beat percussion with indigenous instruments from around the globe - all gently accompanied by the natural sounds of the Colorado Plateau. Perfect for quiet listening, relaxation, yoga and meditation. August has composed for film and video, including scores for NASA and The Discovery Channel.
About the Artist
Since 1989, August has composed music and sound design for hundreds of films, commercials and video projects, for such clients as NASA, The Discovery Channel, Lexus, Chevrolet, Nabisco, Minolta and many others. The Discovery Channel described his work as "global, edgy, unexpected, emotional and sensual." And the Los Angeles Times has called it "shimmering and luminous." His work was featured in the Olympic village during the '96 Olympics in Atlanta, and one of his projects for NASA is on permanent display at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
He currently resides in Los Angeles with his 12 year old black Labrador Retriever, "Magellan".
