About this item
In German with English subtitles Murder, Venice, relationships...it's a delicious concoction in the hands of crime novelist Donna Leon. Venice provides the backdrop for the lush film versions of the bestselling novels, which features the indelible Commissario Guido Brunetti, canal boat rides instead of car chases, fine cuisine and crime investigations in one of Europe s most beautiful locations. Joachim Krol plays Guido Brunetti, a police inspector with a keen mind, razor-sharp wit, and a touch of melancholy. He strives to bring criminals to justice, but experience has taught him that countless things work against that - human frailty, corruption, and incompetence in the force being chief among them. He takes refuge from the job in the company of his loving wife Paola, a university literature professor, and two teenage children, Raffi and Chiara. Episode 3: Fatal Remedies - During a protest Brunetti's wife, Paola, throws a stone into the window of a travel agency that allegedly supports the sex trade. The action comes back to haunt her when the owner of the agency is found dead alongside an anonymous letter denouncing pedophilia. Stricken with guilt, Paola feels partly responsible for the murder and the case casts a dark shadow over her happy marriage. Episode 4: A Noble Radiance - The man whose skeleton is found in a field outside Venice spoke his last words two years ago; the ring on his finger, however, continues to speak. It bears the coat of arms of a wealthy and powerful Venetian family that places itself above the law. Brunetti soon runs into an icy wall of disdain as he chips away at the family's recent past, their dark secrets and criminal activities.
