Honor, Pride, Tradition...they're all preserved at the Corps' oldest post. Established in 1801, Marine Barracks, 8th & I, Washington, DC is the "heart and soul" of the Marine Corps. It's hope to the United States Marine Band, the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, the Marine Corps Color Guard, and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Two of the most famous military ceremonies, The Sunset Parade and The Evening Parade, are hosted by the Marines assigned here. This program takes you behind the scenes, with the Marines of 8th and I - from boot camp to the hallowed parade grounds. It's an up-close look at the selection process, the training, and the performances of these famed ceremonial units. From the grueling practice sessions of the Silent Drill Platoon to the intricate choreography of the Drum & Bugle Corps, you'll be inspired by the ceremonial grandeur and military efficiency displayed by every Marine privileged to be assigned to the "Oldest Post of the Corps."
About the Director
