About this item

This is the most comprehensive book on double-action sixguns ever made. This beautiful color hardbound book contains 496 pages of information. John takes you through loading shooting and caring for these popular handguns. This book is not an encyclopedia of Classic Double-Action Sixguns, but rather my experience with them. These are the sixguns I have known and enjoyed for nearly 60 years beginning with my first Colt and Smith & Wesson World War I surplus .45 double-action revolvers and my first newly purchased double-action sixgun - the Smith & Wesson.357 Highway Patrolman. As I progressed through the Classic Smith & Wesson and Colt double-action sixguns I realize more and more just how subjective this is. And the more I thought about it, I also realized it has a lot to do with our time of life. I'm sure many of those born after the age of the Classic sixguns, or even if they simply started shooting after the Classic Sixguns were long gone, have a different point of view as to just what defines Classic. With that in mind I began to take a serious look at some other double-action sixguns. So, the second part of this book will consider my thoughts on Dan Wesson, Ruger, and Charter Arms double-action sixguns as well as Colt's entrance back into the world of big-bore sixguns 50 years after the New Service was dropped from production. There certainly are future sixgunners, perhaps even some today, who eventually will consider the following latecomers as Classics: Dan Wesson standard-chambered, double-action sixguns as well as the SuperMags; the Ruger Security-Six, GP101, Redhawk, and Super Redhawk; Charter Arms Bulldos; and the Colt Anacondas. With that in mind, the final chapters will look at these Classics in the making. Good Shootin' and God Bless. John Taffin This is book three in the series. This beautifully-colored book is hardbound with over 450 pages.
