Sinopsis

Invierno de 1936. En un pequeño pueblo español, Moncho, un niño de 8 años, huye aterrorizado el primer día de clases porque ha oído decir que los maestros son violentos con los estudiantes. Don Gregorio, el único maestro al que todos los niños quieren, va en su búsqueda para traerlo a casa. A partir de entonces comienza para Moncho el nuevo año escolar, el aprendizaje del saber y de la vida. Don Gregorio le inculca conocimientos tan medulares como poco académicos: el origen americano de las patatas, las habilidades corteses del ornitorrinco o la necesidad de que la lengua de las mariposas tenga forma espiral.
