About this item

When Marge Graziano first “met” the Lost Lady of Jerome in March 2001, she embarked on an unexpected journey of discovery that dramatically changed the course of her life. Drawn to the Honeymoon Cottage during a weekend visit to historic Jerome, Arizona, Graziano had the undeniable feeling that the “Lady” was calling to her across the ages. At great personal time and expense, Graziano answered the Lady’s ethereal plea, making arrangements to purchase the dilapidated Honeymoon Cottage immediately and restore the “Jewel of Jerome” to its original grandeur.Graziano shares her remarkable story with wisdom, humor and grit in a new literary account entitled Lady Lost: The Story of the Honeymoon Cottage in Jerome, Arizona. A Five Star Publications book, Lady Lost is slated for release in May 2009. “How the home became a living, breathing entity was a spiritual experience for me,” explained Graziano. “Jerome is said to have many, many spirits that are with us. It seems the spirit of the Lady just placed herself in my life, and I had to tell our story.” Lady Lost evolved from a series of news clippings that were originally featured in the Red Mountain Times, a community newspaper formerly published in Mesa, AZ. Over the course of 26 months, Graziano published regular updates of the Honeymoon Cottage renovation project, and she fielded numerous requests for an anthology of her work. “My friends wanted me to go back and put it all together,” she said, “and they persuaded me to bring it to a larger market. Despite it being more difficult than I imagined, I am a better person for meeting the challenge and sharing this story with others. I believe strongly in preserving the unique history Jerome has to offer, and I can’t deny the incredible effect that embracing the Lady has had on my life.” Graziano’s commitment to restoring the Honeymoon Cottage has led her down new roads in Jerome that she never dreamed she would travel. Having established the Jerome Winery in a joint venture with her son, John, Graziano is presently engaged in expanding their vineyard and opening a second winery. She has also acquired an art gallery in Jerome’s town center and is heavily involved in its civic community as well. She will welcome visitors to the Honeymoon Cottage this spring as part of the Jerome Historic House Tour and volunteers regularly with the Jerome Historical Society, Humane Society and Chamber of Commerce.
