About this item
This biography details the life of Maria Esperanza Medrano Bianchini, a Venezuelan wife, mother and mystic who was at the center of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Betania, Venezuela, which were approved by the Church in 1987. She died in 2004 and her Canonization Cause was opened in 2010. These pages reveal the essence of Maria Esperanza, describing her human and mystical personality, and the spirituality of Betania. This book will help many to rediscover the value of family life and of the Catholic faith, and to hope for a reconciled world.
"Maria Esperanza and the Grace of Betania is a fascinating book that tells us in a direct and simple way about... someone who... founded a movement to venerate the Virgin at a farm called Betania. ...[In this work] Father Byerley has highlighted the richness of the soul of Maria Espranza."
Bishop Georges Kahhale (Exarch of the Greek-Melkite Catholic Church in Venezuela)
"Father Tim, I am impressed with the entire depiction you have made of the facts related to my dear wife... I can verify that at all times she possessed all those gift and qualities... Thank you. May God bless you and always accompany you in your beautiful work!"
Geo Bianchini (The husband of Maria Esperanza)
"I am truly grateful and touched, as is my family, for this extraordinary book that Father Timothy Byerley... has written about [our mother].... From the beginning the story grabs you.... It brought me so close to my mom, in such a vivid way, that is made tears spring forth.... Through this fascinating reading you will come to know her and interact with her. You will see how you also will be struck by her."
Maria Gracia Bianchini de Gebran (a daughter of Maria Esperanza)
"Aware of the gravity of going to the facts and of avoiding exaggerations, Father Tim was able to reflect on all the aspects of the life of my mother. He shows how her human and mystical reality never conflicted.... [He] presents to the reader the mystical gifts of the Servant of God: her visions, revelations, gift of prophecy, stigmata, etc.... [and] illustrated each case with specific examples. He also shows us, from the perspective of the Church, how these phemomena must be understood within the context of its rich mystical tradition."
Maria Coromoto Bianchini de Marrero (A daughter of Maria Esperanza)
