About this item

The second edition has been completely updated and expanded with more than 30 pages of new content, including: Pre-screen phone call preparation Pre-interview video tips Virtual interview strategies 100 practice residency interview questions with guidance on how to answer them Looking for a quick, conversational read that’s packed with practical advice? Insider tips from the residency program perspective Strategies to strengthen your application How to make your extracurricular experiences stand out Writing effective letters of intent Securing strong letters of recommendation A self-evaluation worksheet to identify your strengths and weaknesses 100 residency interview questions with discussion points Guidance through every step of the Match process The pharmacy residency application process can feel overwhelming, and competition continues to grow. You don’t just want to match—you want to match with one of your top-choice programs. After serving as a residency preceptor, residency program coordinator, and residency program director, I’ve reviewed hundreds of applications and interviewed countless candidates. I’ve seen talented students succeed, but I’ve also watched many strong applicants fall short because they didn’t know how to present themselves effectively. Pharmacy school prepares you to be an excellent clinician. It rarely teaches you how to market your experiences, write a compelling letter of intent, interview with confidence, or stand out in a competitive applicant pool. This book is designed to bridge that gap. We’ll cover honest self-assessment, building a stronger application, writing an effective letter of intent, preparing for interviews, navigating the Match process, and much more—all in a practical, conversational style with plenty of real-world examples (including the infamous AnecDose stories). My goal is simple: to help you understand what residency programs are really looking for, reduce the stress of the application process, and give you the tools to match with the residency program that’s right for you.
