About this item
Product Description
FIVE DISC BOX SET. SIX FILMS. THREE VIDEO EXTRAS. Mexican-American director Natalia Almada creates intense, genre-bending films that blur boundaries and the line between personal and the social. Drawing heavily on her Mexican background, Almada brings together disparate elements ― archival audio recordings, home movie footage, literature, and closely observed moments ― to create a distinctive and powerful body of work. Includes Almada's entire filmography: USERS, TODO LO DEMAS (EVERYTHING ELSE), EL VELADOR, EL GENERAL, AL OTRO LADO (TO THE OTHER SIDE), ALL WATER HAS A PERFECT MEMORY. PLUS: exclusive video extras: Project 360 on El General (17 minutes), The Making of Todo Lo Demás (15 minutes), An Interview with Natalia Almada (3 minutes) More on included films: USERS - Natalia Almada's newest film begins with a mother’s question–will my children love the perfect machines more than they love me, their imperfect mother? OPENED THEATRICALLY IN NYC & LOS ANGELES IN 2023! TODO LO DEMAS (EVERYTHING ELSE) - Almada's sole narrative feature explores the interior life of bureaucrat Doña Flor as she attempts to resurface from three decades of service. STARRING ADRIANA BARRAZA EL VELADOR - From dusk to dawn Martin watches over the extravagant mausoleums of Mexico's most notorious drug lords. EL GENERAL - The filmmaker reflects on her great-grandfather, who was a revolutionary general and then president of Mexico. AL OTRO LADO (TO THE OTHER SIDE) - An aspiring corrido composer faces two life-changing choices: to traffic drugs or unlawfully cross the border into the United States. ALL WATER HAS A PERFECT MEMORY - A poignant experimental short documentary film that explores the effects of tragedy and remembrance on a bi-cultural family.
