About this item

About the Artist "My music is an awakening of the love that resides within the human soul. It calls the heart to open and receive life-affirming energy," says pianist and composer Esteban Ramirez. "Everything I've written for 'Serenade to the Moon' reflects the path I've traveled." Esteban's journey began in El Paso, Texas. At age 10, he began piano lessons and within a year graduated to performing publicly and composing. Three years later, one of his first pieces, "River Raindrops," earned him a standing ovation at the Southwestern Songwriters Showcase. Later, he attended Pacific Union College in the heart of California's Napa Valley majoring in Communications and French. During this period, Esteban continued to develop his repertoire of original songs and performed frequently at church and community events. After graduation, he relocated to Los Angeles. He worked as a marketing director in the corporate sector for several years, then pursuing a stronger calling, transitioned to marketing for St. Joseph Center, a social service agency providing assistance to homeless and poverty stricken people in Venice, California. Throughout his continued professional growth, his artistic nature took a back seat until a few years before the release of "Serenade to the Moon." "A real metamorphosis occured in my life. Ironically, it was the ending of a relationship that brought me back to what gave me the most comfort--composing," he shares. "It was then that I fully embraced the gift I'd been given to make beautiful music." Esteban Ramirez's influences range from classical composers like Chopin and Mozart to modern-day pianists like George Winston and Danny Wright. But he has developed his own instantly recognizable style, which features tranquil melodic arrangement brimming with slow arpeggios, fifths and occasional trills. Product Description In the piano tradition begun two decades ago by George Winston, David Lanz and Suzanne Ciani, "Serenade to the Moon" brings solo-piano musings that are uncomplicated, pleasing and melodic--ideal for situations such as entertaining, dining, reading and other quiet activities. Review Esteban Ramirez brings a new youthfulness to this subgenre with pianistic musings that are uncomplicated, pleasing and melodic. --New Age Retailer Magazine "Serenade to the Moon" is a sensual pianistic delight from start to finish...he creates an aural landscape. --Enlightenment Magazine "Esteban Ramirez has created an incredible disc. His music will touch your heart." --John Pemble, KTPR Radio Programmer
