Separated at birth, each was raised by an adoptive parent: Tia with mother Lisa (Jackee Harry), Tamera with dad Ray (Tim Reid). The decision is made to forge an awkward, sort-of family with all four living in Ray's large house (he's a successful businessman, while Lisa is a threadbare fashion consultant). From the get-go, the show makes it clear the sassy Lisa and uptight Ray, very different people, are unlikely to fall in love, allowing for lots of sarcastic banter between the two and keeping the tone light in that department. Still, there are moments when the live-in arrangement has comic advantages, as in an episode where Lisa begs Ray to pretend they're married in order to placate her mother. The focus largely remains, however, on Tia and Tamera, young teens getting used to a new life that includes an identical sibling. The ups and downs of their relationship are fodder for the 12 charming episodes in this two-disc set, most of them built around tensions and competition between the girls concerning boys, dating, truthfulness, and how to get what they want after being told they can't have it. In "Cheater, Cheater" and "The Pimple," Tia and Tamera swap places when faced with difficult situations and deal with the consequences.
