the-instrumental-mr-krupa-original-recordings-remastered
The Instrumental Mr. Krupa [ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED]
In 1925, Jazz was a relatively new thing and the wedding between technique and feeling had not, as yet taken place. As a drummer, Gene Krupa was no exception. In his own words "For at least five years after I started drumming, I played less rudiments and more illegitimate Jazz beats than anyone ever thought of playing. That was before I got wise and realised that a drummer, any drummer, can go just so far without proper background". In the summer of 1926, Gene graduated from the backrooms when he was asked to play with Joe Kayser who fronted a well known Chicago band. He spent the entire summer playing around the Paw Paw Lake region of Michigan. From here on Gene established himself on the scene proper and was linked with several named bands, before making a household name for himself with his own orchestra. Gene Krupa really was one of the great drummers of the Big Band era, indeed one of the greatest of the Twentieth Century. He had an ebullient personality which manifested itself in his style of playing. This new Jasmine CD compilation concentrates on the instrumental aspects of his band & trio, and prominently features tenor-saxist Charlie Ventura. The sound is modern, the musicianship faultless. 21 tracks with a playing time of over 68 minutes.
ASIN: B00004T2IQ
VSKU: DBV.B00004T2IQ.G
Condition: Good
Author/Artist:Gene Krupa & His Orchesta & Trio
Binding: Audio cd
Note: Any images shown are stock photographs and product may differ from what is shown.
Condition Notes: Individually inspected: Guaranteed to play perfectly or your money back.
