[but it] is doubly powerful because he also weaves in the overall history of Tibet's struggle... -- --Neil Genzlinger, The New York Times

An impassioned documentary that functions as both a tour of a fading world of song and dance and a cry of rage at its snuffing out. -- --Ty Burr, The Boston Globe

We highly recommend this beautiful and important film. We encourage you to not only help support our dear friend Ngawang, but also to raise awareness about his important film, and the importance of preserving and respecting world cultures and promoting artistic freedom. -- --Amnesty International USA Web Log

Product Description

A once-sovereign nation for thousands of years, Tibet remains under harsh Chinese rule and apatriotic re-education.a The surviving Tibetan folk music shapes an endangered peopleas identity. Ngawang Choephel, a Tibetan who fled for India at the age of two, returned home to capture the music of his people. He was arrested and sentenced to 18 years in prison, serving nearly 7 years before a highly publicized release. A heartbreaking tale of cultural exploitation and resistance, Tibet in Song is a raw and uncensored look at Tibet today and its fight for cultural heritage. For the first time, voices never before captured on film dare to speak out in the name of artistic freedom. Sometimes all it takes is a song.
ASIN: B005KC4LKS
VSKU: DBV.B005KC4LKS.A
Condition: Acceptable
Author/Artist:Choephel, Ngawang
Binding: Dvd
Note: Any images shown are stock photographs and product may differ from what is shown.
Condition Notes: Individually inspected: Guaranteed to play perfectly or your money back.
