Titanic At 100: Mystery Solved

Amazon.com Are you ready to go back to Titanic? After a century, is there anything we don't know or haven't seen about the most infamous maritime disaster in history that killed 1,500 people? Turns out there's plenty. This feature-length documentary, originally launched on the History Channel, literally goes deeper than any previously filmed expedition to try and answer whether the once-thought unsinkable ship had a built-in weakness or a fatal design flaw. In solving the Titanic puzzle, the distinguished team gathered by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and RMS Titanic, Inc., sets out to make a map of the complete wreck site. Previous expeditions, one crew member notes, "have all gone to the same places, over and over again" to "get these touristy views" (Take that, Robert Ballard and James Cameron!). The most riveting scenes are those that employ CGI to bring Titanic back to life with every missing piece intact. If Titanic at 100 has a design flaw, it's the repetition no doubt necessitated by broadcast commercial breaks to get viewers back up to speed. Should you devise a Titanic at 100 drinking game based on the phrases "missing middle" or "fatal flaw," no doubt you'll sink faster than the 40,000-ton ship. But this is an illuminating program that offers unprecedented perspective and will enhance the collections of Titanic buffs. Of course, the real mystery of Titanic will never be solved: How did "My Heart Will Go On" win the Academy Award for Best Song? --Donald Liebenson Product Description A team of technicians and scientist undertake a thorough site survey of the Titanic shipwreck area to examine how the passenger ship sank.
