Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741) was an Italian composer, virtuoso violinist and impresario of Baroque music. Regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, Vivaldi's influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe, giving origin to many imitators and admirers. He pioneered many developments in orchestration, violin technique and programatic music. He consolidated the emerging concerto form into a widely accepted and followed idiom, which was paramount in the development of Johann Sebastian Bach's instrumental music. Vivaldi composed many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other musical instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than fifty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons. Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children. Vivaldi had worked as a Catholic priest for 18 months and was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for royal support. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died in poverty less than a year later. After almost two centuries of decline, Vivaldi's musical reputation underwent a revival in the early 20th century, with much scholarly research devoted to his work. Many of Vivaldi's compositions, once thought lost, have been rediscovered – in one case as recently as 2006. His music remains widely popular in the present day and is regularly played all over the world. // Label: Hyperion – CDA66309 Format: CD, Album Country: UK Released: Genre: Classical Style: Baroque // Tracklist: Concerto In G Minor, RV105 For Recorder, Oboe, Violin, Bassoon And Continuo 1 Allegro 2:52 2 Largo 1:56 3 Allegro 3:19 Concerto In D Major, RV95 ('La Pastorella') For Recorder, Oboe, Violin, Bassoon And Continuo 4 Allegro 3:33 5 Largo 3:47 6 Allegro 2:31 Concerto In G Minor, RV107 For Flute, Oboe, Violin, Bassoon And Continuo 7 Allegro 2:11 8 Largo 4:12 9 Presto 2:49 Concerto In C Major, RV87 For Recorder, Oboe, 2 Violins And Continuo 10 Adagio - Allegro 2:58 11 Largo 2:47 12 Allegro Assai 2:26 Trio Sonata In A Minor, RV86 For Recorder, Bassoon And Continuo 13 Largo 3:22 14 Allegro 2:27 15 Largo Cantabile 3:05 16 Allegro Molto 2:00 Concerto In D Major, RV94 For Recorder, Oboe, Violin, Bassoon And Continuo 17 Allegro 3:38 18 Largo 3:08 19 Allegro 3:40 // Bassoon – Jeremy Ward Cello – Richard Tunnicliffe Composed By – Antonio Vivaldi Design – Terry Shannon (2) Engineer, Producer [Recording Engineer And Producer] – Nicholas Parker Ensemble – The Chandos Baroque Players Executive-producer – Cecile Kelly, Edward Perry Harpsichord – Malcolm Proud Illustration [Front Illustration] – Anonymous Imitator Of Giorgione Oboe – Valerie Darke Recorder, Flute – Rachel Beckett Violin – Maya Homburger Violin [First Violin] – Rachel Isserlis (tracks: 10 to 12)
ASIN: B000002ZL4
VSKU: DBV.B000002ZL4.G
Condition: Good
Author/Artist:Antonio Vivaldi|The Chandos Baroque Players
Binding: Audio cd
Note: Any images shown are stock photographs and product may differ from what is shown.
Condition Notes: Individually inspected: Guaranteed to play perfectly or your money back.
