About this item

About the Artist Yoko Noge (piano, vocals) is the Blues woman from Osaka, migrated to Chicago in the 1980's. She paid her blues dues performing with many bands in Chicago's westside blues bars, and studied piano with boogie and blues master Erwin Helfer. Yoko is now a Monday night stable with her band the Jazz Me Blues at Chicago's famous HotHouse. The band features: John Watson (trombone, vocals, acting) and veteran of Count Basie's band. Clark Dan (soprano saxophone) has appeared on jazz recordings by Sunnyland Slim, Erwin Helfer. Sonny Seals (tenor sazophone) has played with BB King, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and many more! Tatsu Aoki (bass) Grammy nominated classic/free jazz artist. Phil Thomas (drums) appearances with Memphis Slim, Muddy Waters, and as part of the Johnny Young Trio. Elijah Levi (vocals) is a former Ink Spot. Product Description It can be said that "Yoko Meets John" is about the blossoming of a musical friendship, or it can be said to be about the discovery of the common spiritual ground in cultures from two far-flung continents and its expression through Chicago blues, swing, bop and straight-ahead free jazz. But perhaps it's mostly about serious musicians rediscovering and exploring the humor and creative tension in relationships as well as in some wonderful, rhapsodic and meaningful music.
